It’s that time of the year where the betting markets are starting to form.   Here are my top 3 value football outright bets for the 2016/17 season bets on where I see some initial value:

Back Leicester to get relegated (16/1)

I’m not saying they will get relegated but there certainly is value at 16/1.  With Kante leaving for 32m they have lost one of their key players and it looks like Mahrez will not be far behind.  All they need is an injury to Vardy and there is a risk they will start slipping down the table.

Lay Newcastle to win the Championship (2/1)

Newcastle should win the championship but it is a funny old league.  Teams who come down often think they will bounce straight back up.  In the first few games of the season they may struggle.  Additionally, Newcastle’s team is pretty much a Premiership side.  Every team that plays Newcastle will treat it like a cup final and will up their game.  I suggest laying Newcastle to win the title.  I’d get out early if Newcastle has a really strong start to the season.

Back Chelsea to win the Premiership (6/1)

Personally I can’t look past Man City to win but there is no value at 5/2.  Laying Man U seems good value at 4.6 but I avoid laying anything over 4.0.

Chelsea have made some good signings (Kante to protect things at the back, and their attacking options are as good as anywhere).  They also don’t have the distraction of the Champions League and so can put all their concentration on the Premier League.  6/1 seems good value so I’d recommend jumping on and see how the first 5-6 matches go.  If they look like a title winning side then stay in.  If not, I’ll look to get out with a small a loss as possible.
